Chapter 648: 642 Threat
The auction quickly resumed, the atmosphere simultaneously returning to normal. A lot of what Finn Lewis wanted was unnecessary, and so he didn’t really care about the proceedings.
“Now we proceed to the final lot for auction, which could be described as a complete set of planetary transformation technology, or a single item. But unlike previous planetary transformation technologies, I believe many of you have heard of the Source of Life! You’ve guessed it, our auctioned item this time is a full Source of Life!” As the auctioneer spoke, the crowd outside began to roar.
Even Finn Lewis straightened up in his seat because the words ‘planetary transformation technology’ caught his immediate attention. Could this item really transform planets? He hadn’t expected such a thing to be auctioned off here.
“Indeed! It’s the famous Source of Life! I think you all know the conditions for the Source of Life’s planetary transformation. Firstly, it must at least meet the most basic requirements, like a human-suitable planet where the related deviation in gravity isn’t too large. Secondly, the distance between the planet and the star cannot be too great, and it must possess an atmosphere, although the required atmospheric composition isn’t very stringent,” the auctioneer said energetically.
“The Source of Life has been verified by us. I believe many of you have heard of its special effects. The transformation of a planet by the Source of Life makes its look as if it was naturally formed. The entire planet will be filled with vitality and spirit, and humans residing on it can live up to 150 to 200 years, even without any adjustments. However, that’s not the most important thing.”
“What is most important is that on these planets transformed by the Source of Life, you can cultivate many valuable gene-modification liquids and other precious medicinal plants, which are essential for their production. You all know how many natural planets there are in the whole galaxy, and with such a planet, one could say you possess a brand new Star Bank. Although that could be an exaggeration, at least you all won’t lack wealth anytime soon.”
“And now, let the bidding begin, starting at 50 million star credits! The minimum increase for each bid should be at least 1 million star credits. Let’s start!”
“60 million!”
“61 million!”
“65 million!”
“75 million!” Multiple offers were immediately called out, and the bidding price began to skyrocket. Soon it reached 90 million! It was about to break the 100 million mark.
“100 million!” A new voice joined in. As soon as this voice was heard, Finn Lewis recognized it as the new leader of the Koller Pirates. Their main purpose for coming here was likely this item.
What’s more, Finn Lewis noticed that it wasn’t just the Koller. Many buyers who hadn’t purchased anything previously were now bidders. It seemed that their target was also this item. The Koller Pirates had likely sabotaged the previous bids in order to gather all their resources to win this auction.
“110 million.”
Finn Lewis silently watched as the bidding war started to heat up. So far, the competition had been narrowed down to just three bidders: the Koller Pirate, a woman, and somebody with a young sounding voice, who was unlike the new leader of the Koller Pirates with his deep voice.
“120 million.” The woman immediately called out a new figure.
“125 million.” the Koller Pirate’s man raised the bid by another 5 million. Finn Lewis didn’t know how much money they had, but based on previous transactions, these people didn’t have a lot. The profit from a brand new planet is hard to measure in monetary terms. It depends on the perspective.
For the large families of the Galactic Federation, perhaps a planet isn’t that significant, but for these organizations, a new planet is incomprehensible. Finn Lewis wasn’t sure about the state of the Pirate teams, but their bases were likely far from comfortable.
In fact, he thought they were probably not at all comparable to the Death Star. He didn’t know the origin of the other two forces, but he suspected that they were other organizations, likely also part of these pirate groups.
“130 million.” Suddenly, a new voice joined the auction. But what was different was that this voice did not come from one of the private viewing rooms, but from a simulacrum in the hall. This meant that the force represented by the simulacrum had also started bidding.
Finn Lewis was very interested in this item, but he hadn’t started bidding yet. He was silently waiting. He would just wait until the last bidder remained.
“140 million”
“150 million.” It seemed that these people still had a lot of funds. They were increasing bids by 10 million at a time. This figure was swiftly approaching 200 million. Finn Lewis didn’t know how much this item was worth, but, for him, even if the price was multiplied several times over, he would still buy it.
However, what followed in the auction was surprising to Finn Lewis. The simulacrum, who had joined later, stopped bidding at 160 million. It was down to just three people again. Until the middle-aged man from Koller raised the bid by 20 million to 200 million, the other two seemed to have given up.
“200 million for the first time, any more bids?”
“200 million for the second time, anyone?” Just as the auctioneer called it for the second time, and everyone thought this would be the final price, a very familiar voice echoed out. “205 million.”
Naturally, it was Finn Lewis who placed the bid. This price was a mere trifle for him, but for others present, it was far from the case.
“205 million, gentlemen at the number 88 box bid 205 million. Any more bids? If not, it will belong to the gentleman of the number 88 box, 205 million for the first time.”
“205.5 million” The middle-aged man from the Koller called out again, obviously not wanting to give up. However, from his bidding style, it was clear that he was probably near his limit. He couldn’t bid more than this amount.
