Chapter 27: Donovan! Part 2

Chapter 27: Donovan! Part 2

"Oh, uh, what?" Donovan looked around, waking up from his deep daydream before staring at Mason\'s angered face.

"Come on…" Mason said, walking back to where the two were; he didn\'t have the energy to shout at Donovan; he wasn\'t the kind of guy to nag.

"Where are you going?"

"Sigh, just follow me."

As they reached where the instructor and George were, Mason stopped turning to Donovan, "This kid here claims to know Michael personally, and he wants to get a leave from attending the Great Wizard\'s speech. Confirm with Sir Michael if what this kid claims is true."

Donovan turned, looking at George, a familiar face from the list, "Sure." He walked away, exiting the building, leaving the three men alone.

"So, uhh, what are we going to do while he does that?" The instructor asked, breaking the short awkward silence from going any longer.

"We\'ll wait at your office. Is that fine with you?" Mason asked.

The instructor nodded, "Uhm, it\'s a bit messy but if it is fine with both of you then sure."

"Yeah, that sounds good." George replied.

Donovan rode his horse as fast as he could toward the Emerald City Castle. The horse was going at a speed where he was starting to shake uncontrollably to the point that if he were to make one mistake, a big accident would occur.

The horse stopped right in front of the big green gates of the castle, where two guards guarded, "Halt! Let us see some ID." They shouted; they couldn\'t tell who was riding the horse, but as they got closer, they could see that it was Donovan, a known face among the Emerald City guards.

"Ay, Donovan! What are you doing here?" One of them asked.

"I can\'t talk for too long, I need to meet Sir Michael."

The both of them looked at each other before turning towards him, "Well, I\'m sorry, but Sir Michael is not here currently…"

"Then where is he?"

"Sir Michael has gone to one of the nobles house, shouldn\'t be far from here. Here I\'ll write you the address." The guard said, writing the address on paper before handing it over.

"Thanks." Donovan replied before he rode following the address.

He stopped at one of the rich neighborhoods of the city, but unlike the castle, it wasn\'t green but made of normal materials. The only thing that was green about the place was the leaves and the green stone on the roads.

He then got off his horse before tying it to the small gate protecting the house.

The private guards that were guarding the house didn\'t dare question an Emerald City guard like Donovan, but there was another Emerald City guard to do just that for them.

He walked up to Donovan, "Donovan, why are you here."

"Mason Wolfe ordered me to be here. He wants me to ask Sir Michael something very important."

Hearing the name Mason Wolfe, the guard nodded, "I\'ll have to ask Sir Michael before letting you in."

"Sure." Donovan waited at the gate while the guard entered the large noble\'s property.

The place wasn\'t like how it was portrayed from the outside.

While it may look neat and fabulous from the outside, the inside was messy.

Michael stood up, standing on his chair, "I told you Senator, I can\'t have you building a statue of a beaver made out of gold! I can\'t even believe that I am having this conversation with you right now!"

"Why not? The people love beavers." The Senator replied, his face looking disappointed at Michael\'s answer.

"So no beavers?"

"NO!" Michael shouted as he got down.

"Sir," The guard called Michael as he entered the room.

"What is it now?" Michael responded before heading towards the door.

"One of the Emerald City aguards wants to meet you. His name is Donovan."

Michael stopped trying to remember the names and nodded, "Yeah I\'ll meet him outside, I\'m done here anyways."

"And sir, the bank send you a letter, it seems important."

Michael took the letter, "They didn\'t even send it to the castle?"

"Yes, sir."

Michael then pocketed the letter, "I\'ll read this letter later, lead the way."

Michael then exited the building following the guard meeting Donovan, standing outside.

"Sir Michael, I don\'t want to waste your time; it\'s just that there is a kid who claims to know you in the academy."

"And who is this kid?" Michael asked with one brow raised.

"He is one of the kids from the list, uhh George is his name."

Michael sighed, "Yeah I know the kid, why?"

"He wants a leave from attending the speech which the great wizard will be giving."

Michael\'s eyes widened, \'This plan could have gone very badly!\' He thought, nodding at Donovan, "Yeah, dont worry, he is with me, give him a proper leave."

Donovan was expecting Sir Michael to deny knowing George personally, but this changed a lot of things.

\'Could everyone in the list know Sir Michael personally?\' He thought, "Thank you sir. I\'ll have to get going."

George, Mason and the Instructor waited in the office for Donovan.

Mason turned to look at both individuals; both o them looked confident. Although, if he were, to be honest, the argument against George seemed more likely.

Why would a kid from a fallen noble family be in contact with the friend of the Great Wizard himself?

\'This kid is definitely full of bull…\' The instructor thought. But as he looked at George\'s confident sharp eyes, something in his heart changed for a split second.

"I\'m back!" Donovan said as he entered the room. "Seems Michael actually knows this kid."

"No way." The instructor replied before turning to George.

Mason sighed, "Well, guess I will have to request a leave of absence from the headmaster for you now…"

"I guess."

"But how? And why would he know Sir Michael?" The instructor asked.

But his question was left ignored.

Foo!

They heard swift steps leaving the exit of the room, taking their attention from the conversation and turning toward it, "Must be some kid running through the hallways…" George replied.

"Yes!" Jame whispered to himself as he stared at his notebook where he recorded the conversation, running away as fast as he could.
