Chapter 547 - 547 "Childish"

“Is that Han Han’s pet?” he asked while pointing at it but it showed its butt to him.

“Yes,” said Ming Ming before moving her hand away like she was afraid he would take the little guy away.

“I heard doctor Kiet dissected a little piggy alive. Not only that but a lizard and a frog too. He will come for you Hansel,” said Yi Youxi and a second later an ear-piercing scream ripped through the sky almost scaring the adults half to death.

“Youxi! Stop messing with your sister,” yelled Lin Ruoxi as she watched her kids running away with one chasing the other.

“Tsk,” she tsked before resisting the urge to take off her shoe and throw it.

“I wonder how that rumour started?” said Doctor Kiet while looking at Yi Feng.

“What? Do you think I started it... fine, I just wanted to scare Yi Youxi but who would have thought he would turn around and scare Ming Ming instead?

“He will make an excellent doctor,” said doctor Keit referring to Yi Youxi.

.....

“More like a mortician. That kid was unfazed,” replied Yi Feng and the two of them held hands tightly as they walked into the house with others.

It didn’t take long to form three clusters. One was in the kitchen and unfortunately, Zi Han and Zi Xingxi were pulled into it with the aunties.

Yeoh Jun and Zi Feiji joined the others in the garden and with the old men arguing about how to barbeque right.

Ming Ming and Yi Youxi were playing with the Nimsel and Mr Twiggles after being kicked out of the kitchen by grandma Lin. The house that was tranquil was suddenly noisy but welcoming to even outsiders.

“I never thought our in law can cook,” said Yi Feng’s mother after pushing Zi Han to the stove.

“He is so virtuous and tough just like his mother,” said Lin Ruoxi and the mother they were referring to was drinking wine while instructing him.

Zi Han just wanted to find Yi Chen but these women wouldn’t let him go. No matter how many times he slipped away someone with sharp eyes would catch him back into the chaotic cycle.

This time it was grandma Lin who brought up a subject Zi Han was too embarrassed to talk about in front of people.

“I heard Yi Chen is planning the bridal chamber. He has been paying so much detail you would think he is planning for the entire ceremony,” said grandma Lin recalling how her grandson had been calling her asking questions.

Zi Han, “...”

“His shopping cart is quite packed. I saw he bought a red quilt, golden chalices and a mirror,” said Lin Rouxi while Zi Xingxi poured wine for her.

“A mirror,” asked Zi Xingxi and Lin Ruoxi took a sip before saying,

“Yes, a mirror. It’s not a small one but about one hundred and fifty centimetres by two hundred centimetres (sixty inches by eighty inches). Why would he need a mirror that siz-,” only for Zi Xingxi to choke on her wine so much that she coughed violently.

“Are you okay? Get your mother some water,” said grandma Lin while Zi Xingxi coughed till her face turned red. How could she not know what that kid was thinking? She knew but the rest didn’t and from the looks of it Zi Han had no clue either.

Unwilling to spoil the surprise she accepted the water and drank it all down. Zi Han pat her back worriedly but she constantly reassured him that he was fine.

Outside grown men were having a barbeque off. You see there is a bake off where they compete in baking but grandpa Zi, grandpa Lin, Yi Zhen and doctor Kiet were competing to see who makes the best t-bone on the charcoal grill.

With alcohol as a catalyst and the rest as judges it seemed like an interesting fight.

“Feng-er can’t vote, he will be biased and vote for his boyfriend,” said grandpa Lin disqualifying him directly.

“No, I won’t. I am an honest person,” he said defending himself but grandpa Lin didn’t buy that.

“Hey, Youxi!” he called his grandson who had his body in a sand pit all except his head, “go call Han Han here.”

“But I am buried,” he said and grandpa Lin replied,

“If you don’t go then I will bury you permanently now hurry.”

Yi Youxi sighed while Ming Ming hurriedly unburied him and the little Nimsel instead of helping was doing the opposite pushing sand right into Yi Youxi’s hair.

After freeing himself with great difficulty, Yi Youxi shook off the sand and walked into the house only to get a scolding from grandma Lin.

“Ru-er look at your son tracking sand into my kitchen. Look how dirty he is now. What are you three years old?” she said while the sweeping robot followed after him like it was going to swallow him as well and spit him out when he was clean.

“Nana I didn’t want to come inside but grandpa wanted me to call saozi. It’s really not me,” he said with those puppy dog eyes that made it hard to stay angry at him.

“Here, come get a dumpling,” she said and Lin Ruoxi was amazed at how fast her mother changed face. Wasn’t she the one that always talked about being strict with the kids and punishment? Yet here she was rewarding bad behaviour.

“Nana, my hands are dirty,” he complained and grandma Lin fed her sandy little grandson.

“Is it nice?” asked grandma Lin.

With his cheeks bulging Yi Youxi said, “Yes of course it is yummy. Nana’s food is the best.”

Lin Ruoxi, “...”

“You kid,” she said only for Yi Youxi to run out while holding Zi Han’s wrist.

Zi Xingxi took a pair of chopsticks and tasted the dumplings before looking at her friend. Lin Ruoxi thought her best friend would side with her but nope.

“Mm, he is right. Your mum’s dumplings taste better,” said Zi Xingxi.

Lin Ruoxi, “...”

“That’s it. You are demoted. You are no longer my best friend, or friend but acquaintance,” she said and Zi Xingxi’s response was simple,

“Childish.”
